Kerry 1-09 : Roscommon 1-06

Moving towards a three-in-a-row Kerry must field without Eoin ‘Bomber’ Liston, who has to cry off the final because of appendicitis. This is a tough final – one of the toughest that Kerry will play – but it comes after a high scoring championship. Mick O’Dwyer’s side have reached this stage after winning an eight-goal shoot-out with Offaly. Roscommon have also emerged from a high-scoring semi-final, against Armagh. They remain outsiders but are an experienced team and a more formidable proposition than when Kerry thrashed them in the 1978 semi-final.
