Meath 0-13 : Cork 0-09

The full match (replay) as originally broadcast by RTE TV
The departure of Kerry and Dublin from the national stage has been followed by a new rivalry as Cork and Meath meet in back-to-back finals. Meath are double holders after winning the NFL in the spring whereas Billy Morgan’s team have confirmed their superiority in Munster by winning a controversial provincial final against Kerry. Meath have survived a fright from Mayo in the semi-final and face a stronger Cork challenge than they met 12 months previously.
The first All-Ireland replay in 16 years brings the counties together for the third final in two years. The seeds have been sown for a confrontational match with Meath surprised by Cork’s physical intensity and nearly deposed in the drawn encounter. For their part the Munster champions are unhappy at the equalising free awarded in that match. In prospect is one of the most controversial – and tightest – finals in recent times.
