This is a showstopper!

I go to many many sales and see A LOT of stuff. This is one of those pieces that stops you in your tracks....if you are a glass lover like I am. It was in the middle of a round glass dining table on a wooden pedestal with the sun shining thru it....my heart skipped a beat ;)

The pattern is what got me. I love the old stuff but am looking for more clean lines now as it brings some modern look to the table. It has the sharp points and edges....I like those kinds of pieces better for some reason. The ones that are smooth feel like pressed glass to me and that is not what I personally like. I am fascinated with the fact that being wheel cut they can keep the lines so straight and not cut all the way thru. Anyway....there were no markings on it so I left it. Went thru the rest of the house...and had to walk towards it to leave.....and there she sat all sparkly and waving at me....I had to buy it. :)

I have done a lot of research....I believe it to be an antique American Brilliant Cut punch bowl. It is missing the stand which I think fit in the area on the bottom as shown. I saw a similar bulbous shaped punch bowl with the same bottom....but cut in a different pattern with the stand. It too, had a clear bottom. No name on that one either but it showed as a American Brilliant Cut.

Please do your own research and if you need further pictures to help you make an informed decision I would be happy to provide them.

Condition. There are a few points that have been nicked and one point that chipped off. I tried to photograph(see pictures with my finger pointing to the areas) There are scratches on the bottom. Very hard to photograph and common for the age.

Less than 10 nicks including the one chip.....really think 5 or 6 total as I could have missed some I'd rather say 10. They truly are not noticeable and in the hands of a good restorer could be polished out.

This is a magnificent piece.

After I realized what this was I remembered I had seen punch cups in the kitchen so I went back next day and bought them. There were 6 and they don't match exactly but have the same strawberry diamond pattern just not all the way up. Four of them have small chips on the rims and two are in good shape. I will include them with the purchase if you so desire. They can easily be polished smooth by a restorer.

I buy what I LOVE. That way I can enjoy them before they sell. I have nestled it in with my glass collection as seen in the photos so you can see the scale. I put it on a pedestal as well so nothing gets near it. That lamp beside it is an oversized lamp. When the light from the lamp hit it it really lit up. Pictures just don't do it justice!

Measurements are approximately 7.25" tall x 10.5 in diameter at the widest area. The glass rim is 1/2" thick.

I am FIRM on this price.

Please look at all photos carefully as I consider them part of the description.

Thank you for looking!
