And women’s fashion magazines devoted increasingly more space to bijoux fantasie, or fashion jewellery by the likes of Giuliano Fratti, Emma Caimi Pellini, Coppola e Toppo, Luciana de Reutern, Canesi, Ornella...

By the time of the “Made in Italy” fashion phenomenon - when Italy dominated the international fashion scene - jewelry had evolved to being so much more than a simple accessory or adornment; it had become an essential part of the overall design. Italian designers such as Armani, Versace, Ferre, Moschino and Prada had found incredible success all over the world.

Throughout the 1960s and well into the year 2000 further names in fashion jewellery came to the fore: Walter Albini, Ugo Correani, Sharra Pagano, Donatella Pellini, Carlo Zini, Angela Caputi, Maria Calderara, Bozart, Emilio Cressoni, Robert Tomas, among others. New talents continue to rise and as more major museums, galleries, and magazines in Europe are dedicated to contemporary jewellery, it becomes clear that the division between the contemporary artist’s or studio jewellery and contemporary fashion jewellery is becoming more and more difficult to define.
