The CONDADO PLAZA was a well known casino in Puerto Rico. The hotel of the same name has never closed, keeping itself open since 1949 under various parent companies. It initially opened as the SAN JERONIMO HILTON, but then became Condado Plaza, name it has kept up to now. Its latest parent company is the Hilton Hotels chain, just like in the beginning. Originally opened in 1949, its casino stayed opened until 1970. Then opened again in 1983. 

Due to growing need to find extra sources of income, around 2014 the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico approved non-casino slot machine operation open throughout the island. It has since become a royal pain in the back, as locals have opened small ventures all throughout the island buying 2nd hand old generation machines prone to be easily "fixed" to the owners benefit, milking out innocent customers of their hard earned money, most outstandingly elder people living on fixed income such as retirement and social security checks. While on one hand elder people feel happy they do not need to travel to the capital to gamble when they can do it locally, on the other hand, the proliferation of these local slot machines have created such a problem that already over a 3rd of the Hotels with casinos have resorted to close them due to heavy losses incurred due to lack of clients during slow season. 

On July 22, 2015 the Condado Plaza Hilton San Juan decided to close the casino doors after 40 years of non stop operation.  The hotel remains open and is considered one of the most desirous locations to visit in Puerto Rico.  We were fortunate enough to get these chips before they were gone forever.  The casino casino chip offered here is of the  Paulson type, metal insert chips, for many years the standard in the industry.

The key denominations of $10 and $20 are only used in specific tables/games that not all casinos carry, and thus the ones that do, usually order a very small amount of each made, making these denominations much harder to acquire, scarce in the market, and thus very desirable to collectors, eager to pay what's needed to obtain one.

Our chips are in ALMOST UNUSED to UNCIRCULATED condition.

Each item is sent either in a 2"x2" coin flip, a coin capsule, plastic wrap, foam layered insert, top loader card protector, bank note plastic jacket, first day cover plastic jacket, or another protecting method, and sent well padded within thick card board and/or bubble wrap in an envelope or mailer box, wrapped in hard plastic tape on all 4 sides, with your address on two sides.
