Build or finish your 'Coin Hunt' collection with some of the best Royal Mint Proof & Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) 2p Two Pence Coins.

Privy Mark Coins:

The 2022 Privy Mark coin was the very last 2p Shield coin to be produced.
This coin was produced for insertion into the special QEII Memorial BU 10 coin set, which now has a confirmed mintage/sales figure of only 11,499, making it the lowest minted UK Royal Mint 2p coin ever produced in this format.

The 2023 coins have been embellished with a unique Tudor Crown Privy Mark and ONLY feature on the definitive BU & Proof
(not circulated) coins - deeming highly collectible.

These coins will have some noted toning and are reduced in price accordingly, noting, none will be heavily toned, but will have noticeable time toning on one side or both

Royal Mint Statement:

To avoid confusion between the old and new coinage all these coins had the word 'NEW' incorporated into the reverse design. This was subsequently removed in 1982. All 2p coins struck between 1971 and 1981 included the words 'NEW PENCE' as part of their reverse. In 1982 and in subsequent years the words 'NEW PENCE' were replaced with the words 'TWO PENCE'. However, in 1983 a small number of 2p coins were mistakenly struck with the wording 'NEW PENCE'.

Coin Appearance:

* Proof coins 1971-1979 inclusive do not have a two-tone/mirror-like image, this is due to the Royal Mint changing their production process. In general, these coins have the appearance of a modern BU finish, albeit, they are proof coins
