ANTIQUE JAPANESE ARITA BLUE/WHITE CHARGER!

Nice antique Japanese Arita charger circa 1810 - 1900. This same period eventually included the American aesthetic era when blue transferware was extremely popular. Our example exhibits a fishscale background that surrounds rosettes or medallions of trees and blossoms. It is further accented with a brown sawtooth edge. Heavy piece...weighing in at almost 3 pounds. As you can see in our posted photos, it does have a split in the porcelain that may have been at the point of manufacture, as well as a bump adjacent to that area. Also, we find a hairline at the center of the neighboring rosette or medallion. Base bottom shows three floral inset, as well as blue bands that surround the collar. General finish age as would be expected throughout. Still and all, a lovely example. Measures in at about 12 3/8" wide.
