For your consideration is a very rare replica/representation of an eighteen century European bathing machine. "Bathing machines were part of the rules of bathing etiquette used in the 18th century, to keep women and their beach bodies out of sight. They were wooden carts with two doors on the sides to allow bathers to change out of their clothes and into their bathing suits without having to be seen by the opposite sex walking across the beach". It measures 4 1/4" high by 4 3/4" long and 3 1/4" wide. It comes with a 1984 newspaper article, which references the tradition back them regarding bathing etiquette, and four (4) little pottery buckets. It is in pretty good condition, free of chips or cracks on the pottery, just some damages on one (1) of the wood wheels (not a big deal).
