Brief History of IJN Kongo:
In 1911, Japan implemented "Plan 88", building four battlecruisers based on the Royal Navy's Lion class. IJN Kongo was the first of these battlecruisers, designed and built in 1913 by Vickers Shipbuilding in the UK. The first of the Kongo class, she was also the last Japanese capital ship built outside of Japan.  Kongo was Japan's first Dreadnaught era capital ship and a significant milestone in Japanese naval history.

Kongo participated in WWI, mainly deployed to the Pacific for escort missions. After the Great War, Kongo went through a number of refits and was eventually upgraded to battleship status.

She saw much action in WWII, notably Guadalcanal and Leyte Gulf. Eventually she was sunk by the US submarine USS Sealion northwest of Taiwan on November 21, 1944.

We have the Kajika WOOD DECK sheets available for Kongo class warships in another listing.
