Dear Buyers, up for auction is this antique can opener with solid brass handle circa 19 century. This is one of the earliest designs of tools used to open tin-cans.  The way to work it is: Put can on hard surface; put point of tool on top of can close to and in line with the edge of the can. Push down hard on the handle to puncture the can until the blade goes all the way in and the rounded part rests on the lip of the can. Pull upwards on the handle pressing down on the round part and the blade cuts the lid of the can upwards.  Proceed all the way round the can and lever the lid up using the point of the opener.  Be careful because the edges of both the lid and the can are sharp.
The condition is very good antique with appropriate patina, please look at the pictures for more details.
