Up for your consideration is a set of two empty reproduction CALIBER .30 M2 BALL 20 round ammunition cartons with a UTAH ORDNANCE PLANT label.

The .30-06 cartridge, first developed in 1906, was the official U.S. rifle and light machine gun cartridge in both World Wars and Korea, with combat use finally ending in the 1960s. The huge quantities of ammunition required for World War II dramatically reflected the impact on warfare of rapid-fire weapons like the machine gun and semi-automatic rifle. Total small arms ammunition production from 1940-1945 exceeded 41.7 billion rounds, and of that total the Caliber .30 round accounted for 25 billion rounds in all loadings. During the 1930s Frankford was the only plant in the U.S. producing military small arms ammunition. Beginning in 1939, small orders were placed with Remington Arms and Western Cartridge for military cartridges, paving the way for future expansion. In 1941, the Government asked Remington to supervise the design, engineering and construction of a small arms ammunition plant on the outskirts of Salt Lake City. Seven months later, the first lot of ammunition was accepted by the Ordnance Department. The Utah Ordnance Plant had a capacity of 5,000,000 cartridges per day, which consisted of ball, armor piercing and tracer cartridges in caliber .30, and armor piercing, tracer and incendiary in caliber .50. Production was terminated at the plant in December 1943, with total production to that date consisting of over 1.2 billion rounds of caliber .30 and 418 million rounds of caliber .50.

Each "Buy It Now" single purchase is for 2 unassembled cartons with dividers and labels. The Utah Ordnance Plant label has the unique WWII red stripe, which identified the contents as Ball ammunition, and a hand-stamped lot number matching my original. If you prefer, I can match the lot number of a spam can, crate, or original cartons that you may have. The cartons, dividers, and labels will be shipped flat, with assembly instructions. I had a lot of these made, so if you want multiple sets, just change the auction quantity before you click the "Buy It Now" button.

Check my feedback and buy with confidence. I prefer paypal, and shipping is free to U.S. buyers. I will ship world-wide, with the buyer paying all shipping charges.
