This auction is for a Rare Leica IIIg rangefinder camera (ELC) with 5cm f/2 Summicron lens and original camera case.

The camera serial No. is 871262 and is of the rarer type, from Midland Ontario, as it was assembled at the Leitz plant in Ontario Canada - though none of the IIIgs were engraved as such. I can confirm it is an ELC (Ernst Leitz Canada) model by the serial No. See photos of reference material...

This particular one was manufactured / assembled in 1957 and comes from a batch of 800 - the last batch of IIIgs assembled in Canada, Ontario in 1957.

Only approximately 1,600 to 1780 of these ELC IIIgs were ever produced, so they are very rare and collectible; typically fetching sometimes up to double the price of a standard Wetzlar (Germany) IIIg model.

As can be seen from the photos, the camera is in lovely condition - I would say at least exc+++.

The camera operates properly in all respects including ALL the speeds (though not 100% guaranteed).

Good, clear rangefinder image and viewfinder.

Slight scuff mark on the back of the body, otherwise in really excellent condition.

The Summicron lens is in similarly lovely condition (exc+++) with a serial number of 1350499 - manufactured in 1956.

Focusing is smooth, as is the aperture adjustment.

Lenses seem to be clean and clear - a wonderful lens.

Aperture blades are also in nice condition.

The lens comes with its original front lens cap in exc+++ condition.

The set comes with the original leather carry case in excellent condition.

All in all a great, authentic addition to any collection.
