It fits directly in a LGA775 socket motherboard with no need to modify motherboard socket. Intel E5450 3GHz LGA 771 Xeon, similar to Core 2 Quad LGA 775 Q9650, but not identical chip, was modified with two new small triangular cutout notches and no socket adapter is needed. Usually it works with many Asus, EVGA, Gigabyte, MSI, Intel and Dell with P45, P43, P35, P31, P965, G45, G43, G41, G35, G33, G31, nForce 790i, 780i, 740i, 630i, GeForce 9400, 9300 motherboards but please check your motherboard spec yourself before buying.
