Oyster mushrooms are without doubt the easiest mushrooms to grow at home. Oyster mushrooms are tasty and very nutritious, butexpensive to buy in the shops. Oyster mushrooms are available in a variety of colours - blue, grey, pink, yellow and white. This strain - blue/grey is particularly high yielding, and one of the easiest to grow. The intensity of colour will depend on the amount of light the mushrooms receive during maturation.
These mushrooms may be grown on a variety of substrates -
The spawn should be applied at 2-4% by weight of substrate. In other words, 60g of spawn can be used to innoculate up to 3kg of damp straw (approximately 850g of dry straw).
Mushrooms can be grown throughout the year – in a cellar, cupboard, garage. In the autumn/winter mushrooms can even be grown in a greenhouse. Oyster mushrooms grow in two phases - colonisation, which best occurs in the dark, followed by fruiting, which should be in a light airy location (eg windowsill) for the best results.

This spawn is fresh (not dried). Therefore, store in a refrigerator between 0 and 5C until use. Use as soon as possible.
