Here for sale is a refurbished Pioneer A-400. This has the reputation of being a "Giant Killer" - capable of matching the performance of many amplifiers that cost more than double its price tag in production today.

The amplifier has been rebuilt and restored, replacing capacitors with new higher quality, long life capacitors with low leakage meaning that the noise floor of the amplifier is near-undetectable.

Ultra stable low noise film capacitors have been used where possible in the phono, pre and power amplifier sections to further improve the performance and reliability of the amplifier, many of these will not need to be changed again.

In addition to this, the protection relays have been replaced, both headphone and speaker relays with high quality Omron relays to insure there is no risk of dirty or worn contacts causing drop outs or distortion in the audio output.

All switches and controls have been cleaned and lubricated and the amplifier has been checked for DC offset and idle current set, and then given a number of soak tests to insure reliable operation.

The fascia has been deep cleaned and polished along with the outer casing to bring it back to as-new finish.

Please note, one speaker terminal has a slight bend but this does not effect operation or functionality of the amplifier. There are also some scratch marks present on the Record Selector knob.

This amplifier really looks the part - elegant and understated.
