Hardcover CHINA: ITS Costume, ARTS. ,MANUFACTURES, &c. EDITED PRINCIPALLY FROM THE ORIGINALS IN THE CABINET OF THE LATE M. BERTIN: WITH OBSERVATIONS, EXPLANATORY, HISTORICAL, AND LITERARY, BY M. Used - Very Good, This is Vol. III & IV only of a four volume work. Vol.III & IV are in the same binding, leather and marbled paper on cover, all edges gilt, raised cords on spine. There are 39 colour plate between the two volumes { I do not know how many there should be but I cannot see any obvious damage. Shows some wear and some bumping and rounding of the cover corners but tight binding although the paper has split - see the photographs there are 12 and give an accurate description of the book. Only a few pages have a light spotting but the pages close to the coloured plates do have browning from them. There is a slight musty smell, this has been stored many years with other very old books, a good airing would fix this. A rare item on early China and a very enjoyable read.
