Enrico Rossi  1856-1916 The Proposal, Very Nice oil on canvas, signed as shown, E. Rossi Naples. Very nicely executed painted as shown in the drapery of the clothing. Painting measures 43” x 25 framed , and 36” x 17.5 viewing area. Painting was professionally relined due to weakened tacking margins.  A painter of genre subjects, born in Naples on September 8, 1856 and died in the same town on February 17, 1916. He studied at de Morelli et Palizzi. And  at the Royal Institute of Fine Arts under the direction of professors Domenico Morelli and Filippo Palizzi. He won a series of awards for figure paintings at Milan and at the Promotrice of Naples. At Milan he had two genre subjects. Giulia Masucci was one of his pupils.[1] He also illustrated books including a Collection of Neapolitan Songs by Salvatore Di Giacomo[2
