From France, a fabulous set of five early 1900s French enamel kitchen canisters in a very rare graduated pink shading over white. The canisters have a vertical ribbed design, made in a turned fashion called “torseine”. There are highlights of gold trim on the canisters and lids. Clean white enamel interior; still functional for storing your sugar, flour, etc. This set was made to store SUCRE (sugar), FARINE (flour), CAFÉ (coffee), PÂTES (Pasta) and CHICOREE (chicory). Each canister is labeled on a smooth front panel in bluish-gray lettering. Each underside is trademark stamped “St. Austria – B. Fres” with a number representing the manufacturers model number for the piece in the set. The canisters are all in excellent antique condition and range in size from 6.5 inches to 5.25 inches tall (including lids) and from 5 inches to 3.5 inches in diameter.
