PREFACE
This collection now offered for sale by auction is mainly formed by the
late Dr. H. D. Mak van Waay - The Hague in a period of over 35 years. It
contains a splendid type collection of the gold and silver coins of the
Netherlands and the overseas territories, nearly all in brilliant condition.
It is specially rich in large gold proofs, many of the highest rarity
and some unique.
The silver coins with splendid series of double crowns and crowns are also in a perfect state of conservation. It certainly is the best collection of its kind offered by auction. We are proud to be entrusted with this important sale.
The foreign gold coins have been the property of Mr. J. W. C. Milders of Bergen op Zoom who bequested his collection to an eccIesiastical institution which entrusted us with the sale.
Last but not least, the foreign silver coins and medals are from different sources and mostly in mintstate condition.
