This auction is for a 1985 Meade 2080 LX3 and 2120 LX5 wedge compass. Remember, this is for JUST the compass. You will not be getting the wedge or the top master nut as seen in the last (2) photos.

Please notice that if you are also bidding on my Meade deluxe equatorial wedge auction that it will not include the compass, Standard Field Tripod, or the top master nut. As stated in that auction, these items that are not included are still being shown as a visual demonstration to how these parts attach and work together.

This compass was made by Brunton in the USA and specifically to fit inside the top master bolt that Meade uses to fasten the deluxe equatorial wedge to their tripod hub. LONG before the days of cell phones, this was the quick and fast way to ready oneself for polar alignment later that evening.

The last (2) photos provided will show you exactly how this compass fits into the top nut. You simply place it as seen and pop it in. It will pop out easily if need be to when storing. It CAN REMAIN inside the flange on the nut while you tighten/loosen for removing or fastening of your Meade wedge assembly.

Though it may not seem important to most, this was a stock item included on the LX3 and LX5 schmidt cassegrains Meade released in their earliest years of manufacturing them. And as such few survive today. So for the vintage collector looking to complete their "to factory specification" Meade 8-inch or 10-inch cassegrain, this might be the one missing item you need. This is one of only (2) I have ever seen in my last 18 years of collecting and displaying classic era Meade setups.
