Charles Louis Lucien Muller was born in Paris on December 22, 1815. He passed on October 1, 1892.  He painted frescoes in the Salle d'Etat in the Louvre Palace in addition to the ceiling of the Salon Denon. He is a celebrated French painter. His works are highly prized and are in museums throughout the world. This particular oil is on a wood panel. The frame is magnificent and is original to the painting. The oil is a small tour de force for its incredible detail and subject mattter. The size of the panel is 5 inches wide by 7 inches high. The detail is so perfect and so small in some cases that a magnifying glass is required to inspect the superb detail by Muller. Signed C Muller, Lower Left. The frame itself is a 19th century antique and highly valued.
