This hardcover book with 304 full color pages and about 500 color pictures, drawings and illustrations recounts the history of the two ceramics manufactures in Friburg during the second half of the 18th century, the first one in Vuadens Gruyere and the second one in Friburg.
The faience manufacture of Vuadens was in activity during three years only, from 1753 to 1756, whereas the manufacture of Fribourg was in activity during eighty six years.
Until now, the production of these workshops was only known by a few specialists, the general public not knowing that the quality of the finest pieces from Fribourg can easily compete with that of other French, Swiss and European manufactures.
The publication of La Faïence de Friborg marks the culmination of a long research on this subject.
