Children’s STATIONERY Set - Peter Rabbit and other illustrations by Ray Gleason, likely 1920s - mostly unused.

RAY GLEASON was Whitman Publishing Company's local "go to" artist and illustrator, credited with many of this Racine, Wisconsin's colorful kid's books in the mid to late 1920s. We know Peter Rabbit was introduced by original author and artist Beatrix Potter in 1902, so this artwork was a period knockoff to capitalize on that still popular success.

This set, most likely one of the earliest sets by Western Printing / Whitman Publishing is a genuine antique and quite rare in this condition. There is no printer mark or date that I can find, just artist’s signature on the lower right of cover. There are 11 sheets of lined paper and 11 envelopes remaining - I’m assuming someone used 1 of each.

Overall box size is 8.5” x 6”, about 1” deep. See photos for condition and graphic images. The photos that paper appears white were taken with natural sunlight, the ones that appear yellowed were taken indoors.

Shipped with USPS First Class mail.
