This hardcover book with 240 full color pages and great illustrations presents Armand Albert Rateau (1882 - 1938).
Designer, furniture designer and architect, Armand Albert Rateau has today become one of the most important creators of Art Deco.
Trained at the Ecole Boulle, he began his career with the famous designer Georges Hoentschel.
Thanks to an international experience, at the age of twenty-three he became artistic director of Alavoine et Compagnie, one of the largest decoration companies of the time.
In 1919, he set up his own business in his mansion. His collaboration with Jeanne Lanvin will help him to define his aesthetic formula, subtle hybridization of styles, at once ancient and modern.
In 1929, his workshops in Neuilly-Levallois-Perret employ two hundred and twelve craftsmen. His furniture and decorations make up a sensual world aside decorative shapes predominating in the twenties.
