YOU ARE BEING OFFERED: two Antique Glycine W Co Swiss wristwatch movements from 1935

First movement is 15 jeweles a 22 mm diameter, with dial and hand. Staff is broken but the balance wheel is free and keeps going when pushed. 

Second movement appears to be a 4 ½ O No 4 D 18x12 H3 with a dial, hands and a crown that is chipped. The balance keeps moving when I give it a push but there is rust visible on the movement. 

Both movements are offered “as is” in non-working condition.

HISTORY: Glycine is still selling high grade watches and typically watches of the age of these movements probably from the 1930s would have been in gold or platinum cases. Since its founding by Eugène Meylan in 1914, Glycine has been producing watches at its factory in Bienne, Switzerland. Meylan was an uncompromising watch engineer who strove for perfection and nothing less. He had a profound understanding of both the market demands and the possibilities offered by the technological advances of the time. Very soon, he succeeded in producing extremely precise, small movements for lady’s watches. The professional production in Bienne enabled Glycine to put on the market the finest miniature movements, clad in precious gold and platinum cases, often studded with diamonds. Glycine became a supplier to the wealthy people, particularly in England and America, who valued highly these works of fine craftsmanship. 

Although I have had an interest in watches and horology for years, I am not a watch repair expert, but I do have a long history of the study of horology. I try to provide the most complete and honest information possible and accurate descriptions in my listings about each watch. This can include conclusions based on my research and general knowledge.  However, it is up to any potential buyer to review the information and be satisfied that it is accurate before offering to purchase. All watch material is sold as is.
