Britain's Railways - From Victory to Nationalisation 1945 to 1948

This is the original release, available again exclusively from Videoscene. Originally £19.95. New price £14.95.

A detailed overview of the state of the British railways in the aftermath of Victory. Suddenly, the railways were no longer a weapon of war and the worn out rolling stock and permanent way were relieved somewhat of the heavy burden of the transportation of the men and munitions of war. Holiday traffic resumed and railway catering services re-opened. It was also to be the swan song of the 'Big Four' railway companies in the lead up to the Nationalisation of 1948, and the inevitable standardisation of locomotive classes  under the British Railways brand that would stem from that.
