From the Asahi Optical Company of Japan:
The original M42 Mount Pentax SLR, the "AP". This camera is the successor to the Asahiflex M37 mount SLRs.
Less than 14,000 AP bodies were produced during their ten month production run between May 1957 and March 1958.
In the U.S., these were marketed and sold by Sears under the name "TOWER 26" and I currently have a Tower 26 listed for sale if you are interested.
This particular AP is in MINT condition and works perfectly however, I have not put any film through the camera as my intent is to sell it to a collector for use as a display piece.
The f/2.4 58mm Takumar P-Mount Lens is original to the camera and a highly collectible item in and of itself as this was the first lens produced for the M42 mount, having been adapted from the M37 f/2.4 58mm Asahi-Kogaku Takumar installed on the Asahiflex IIB, IIA, and Tower 24 models.
The lens is fungus free and has no noticeable debris.
This is a prized piece for a display in a collection. Even the leather case is in great shape.
The photographs say it all. This is a rare camera in optimal collector's condition.
