ORIGINAL BENCZE SHOES STORE ON VACI STREET IN BUDAPEST HUNGARY POSTER by SEIDNER PLAKAT es CIMKEGYAR (SEIDNER POSTER & LABEL FACTORY)  

This is a great piece. I have been a long time collector of posters and hold onto some for my person collection.  This is one I was debating holding onto because it is so great but thought there would be someone who would have a space for this poster and would hang it in there house.  This poster definitely should be framed and hung up in your home.  In doing research I learned many things about this poster, its maker and the city of Budapest.  First off, this is a wonderful advertisement for a woman's shoes store on Vaci Street in Budapest, Hungary.  Vaci Street is the most famous and popular street in Budapest.  Like 5th Avenue in New York City, it is filled with high end shops and restaurants and is a wonderful walking area for tourists and the wealthy.  This must have been an expensive shoe store.  This poster itself would have been expensive to create as it is a wonderful vibrant colorful print with lots of gold coloring. The poster was printed at the most prominent Printing Company of Budapest, the Seidner Plakát- és Címkegyár (Seidner Poster and Label Factory). It is marked in the poster lower right side.  The factory existed between 1903 and 1948 and was based in Vörösmarty street in Budapest. In 1910 Seidner opened a new institute for chromolithography (colored lithography) in the Szövetség street in Budapest.  Poster measures 25 x 36 inches and is in good condition.  It is laid on linen with a top margin area that allows it to be hung the way it is.  I am not sure if that top margin was for it to be hung or for it to be in a binding for posters but either way it helps display the poster.  Overall the poster is clean with great original color.  There are some paper losses and tears to the outer edges of the poster but nothing too bad.  Really it must have been on linen for a long time and that helped preserve it.  Really a wonderful poster.  I have searched the internet and been unable to find another example of this poster.  Really a wonderful scarce piece.  Do your own research on this great poster.  Free shipping anywhere in the United States.
