Grading INFO:
Folks, i am Not a Collector. I still get more joy from listening to music rather than from determining if something is VG- or VG or VG+. Sometimes you can't actually determine how much "noise" an old Lp will have by simply looking at it. Many times Lp's are Much Better Sounding than they appear to Look. Sometimes they can look flawless and still sound Noisy. That Being Said:
My Grading is done Visually. I aim for accuracy, but am not perfect. I have broken it down to a few simple Categories and think i grade conservatively. I get confused when i see a zillion potential grades for an Lp, so my system is simplified. The same grading system applies to the Jacket Grade, with any Cuts or Writing pointed out or Pictured.
IT IS MY BELIEF THAT OLDER LP's WILL USUALLY HAVE SOME LIGHT NOISE, EVEN FROM JUST BEING STORED FOR MANY YEARS IF YOU WANT DIGITAL CLEANLINESS, *please* BUY A CD.
SEALED is not a Grade, it just means the Plastic wrap is still Sealed Around the Jacket. Vinyl has Never been played. This doesn't always mean the Vinyl is Flawless, but it should be Near Mint or Better.
EXCELLENT: Vinyl appears nearly flawless. Maximum wear of a few light incidental marks Only. (This would Equate to some peoples Range of NM- to Mint)
VERY GOOD: Vinyl Appears to have Only a Handful of light Incidental marks at most. (This would Equate to some peoples range of Good++ to VG++)
GOOD: Vinyl has more than a handful of light marks, Should play with light noise in some spots, Nothing Major. (This would Equate to some peoples Range of Good- to Good+)
FAIR - POOR: I don't sell anything in these categories, unless it is Extremely Rare or in demand largely due to the Album Cover Art.
