These Amish platform beds are made and shipped directly from the amish woodworking shop in NW Montana. All our beds are made of lodgepole pine and assembled with mortise and tenon joinery for a very robust log bed. Full length steel angle iron brackets support the wooden cross supports that the wood panels rest on for a very sturdy bed. The logs are harvested locally, by hand, and also hand peeled using the skip-peel method where some of the inner bark is left on,
creating a beautiful rustic piece of furniture for your bedroom.
There
is often some checking in the logs which is a natural occurrence with
lodge pole pine, but it does not affect the strength and durability of
the bed. It actually adds rustic charm and character to them. One great advantage of furnishing your home with rustic log pine furniture is the simple upkeep on the furniture. No worries about nicks and dings as they only enhance the rusticness of the furniture. If the scratch or nick is too deep, simply sand it down and re-apply some varnish or whatever finish you chose to use on it.
The beds come
dis-assembled and include easy to follow assembly instructions, with all the
hardware included. The headboard and end cap are fully assembled to make it easier. Just attach the side rails and platform. Support slats are included as well.
