Offering up this beautiful Chinese trinket box, which does appear to be a reproduction piece.
Appears to be made of plastic (I thought it first it may be lacquered wood), but don't let that put you off, as it does not appear cheap or tacky.

The design on the front depicts three ladies, standing or dancing beside a river or stream.
In the background, we see a small house, overlooking what could be a small pond.

The inlay work of their dresses could be mother or pearl, oyster shell or abalone shell (I am no expert, so I am placing best guess, based on what knowlege I have gained from antiques programmmes on TV).

Inside you can see a red felt lining, which appear to be largely intact, a good sized mirror on the interior of the lid and a little wooden flap on one side, possible for keeping small items of jewellery.
The item could be called a trinket box or a vanity case and we could even say it had a dual function.
Item was purchased in Hong Kong, approx five years ago from a small antiques and collectibles shop.

Dimensions of the box are

L- 23 cm
W-14 cm
H- 6 cm

Interior depth-approx 3 cm

Mirror- 20 L x 11 W cm

Mirror is crack and damage free. Few spots here and there, consistent with age.
Box has a few scratches on base, but lid appears to be unmarked.
Slight rust noted on hinge fixings.
Interior lining a bit dusty, but no heavy staining present.

Item weighs 709g, so it does carry a fair bit of weight.

If you are a collector of items from that part of the world, then surely this would appeal to you, as something worth acquiring.
Would even be great as a shop display.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Open to sensible offers for the piece.
