AND SINCE WHEN YEMA???

Few people know that Yema is a French brand... And yes, if you ask a foreigner which French brands come to mind, they answer Lip and Yema. And for good reason, the Yema company began in 1948, it was Mr. Belmont who had the idea. Over the years, this French brand has built a solid reputation on the market for chronometers and diving watches. In 1965, thanks to the success of the American market, Yema was proclaimed the most exported French brand. In 1982 Yema equipped French astronauts and became an official supplier to the CNES. In 1982, Yema crossed the historic threshold of 2 million units produced. The brand then underwent several successive takeovers: Matra in 1982, CGH in 1988 and Yema SA in 1995.

Since 1948 Yema has cultivated its image as a multi-specialist and produces superb quality timepieces that are collectible today.

DESCRIPTION and UNDER THE HOOD

Housing : "television" shape typical of this period, new from stock from the 80s, never sold, never worn, stainless steel back. On the back you will find the label written "Passed JWCII". JWCII was founded in 1954 to ensure that quality control (QC) processes were established and applied correctly in factories producing watch and other technology products. When you purchased an item with this oval sticker, you knew it came from a factory where quality control was an integral part of the manufacturing process. This way of working has been adopted in top manufacturing plants around the world as a way to ensure quality and reduce the number of returns and warranties.

The use of the JWCII sticker quickly spread on Japanese watches and clocks, also on other items such as radios, cameras and lenses. Unfortunately, factories in parts of Asia began producing copies of the sticker so its use declined. The JWCII tried different forms of the sticker, including transparent ones (like the one on the Yema watch I'm featuring today), but ultimately the manufacturers' holographic logos took over. The JWCII was dissolved in 1991.
