This is for one replacement control for all AR's early model speakers such as the AR-3, AR-3a, AR-2, AR-2ax, AR-4, AR-4x, AR-5, etc. You will require 1, or 2 per speaker, depending on your model. We have sold thousands of these in over 20 years and have never replaced one. Beware of some false claims on ebay.
As you will be removing the woofer to install these, I suggest you order a package or two of cabinet sealer found in Dept. OTHER SPEAKER SERVICE PARTS. Additionally, if you are considering replacing the crossover capacitors, now is the time while you are inside the cabinet. You are already half way into the job. These are available in Dept. SPEAKER CROSSOVER CAPACITORS.I can tell you, the capacitors are no longer in spec. The 50+ year old wax filled cans are way out of spec. Can you tell? It depends on your listening skill. If you listen to classical or jazz, you can likely tell. Particularly the brushes, violins and flutes. If you prefer rock, you might not notice. If you would rather avoid the task of soldering in the cabinet, we have completely solder-less kits for the AR-3, AR-3a, AR-4x, AR-2ax, AR-2a and AR-5 speakers. You will find them in our store listings under SPEAKER LEVEL CONTROLS. Recent feedback from one of our customers: Hey, Larry - got the speakers back together and held my breath hitting the start button....have to tell you - WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! I must have been missing a lot of music from the Hi/Mid's (esp. the highs) prior to swapping. I can certainly tell a difference. So it was an endeavor worthwhile for sure.
