BOOK CONDITION: Some light scuffing and edge wear and the rear corner edges are rubbed to the boards otherwise the covers are very good, clean and the lettering is clear. The binding is tight and the interior is very clean. Bookplate affixed inside the front cover from the library of Frederic de Pourtales, Lieutenant in 1808, then captain the following year in the battalion of the Prince of Neuchâtel, Pourtalès was aide-de-camp to General Niklaus Franz von Bachmann during the Hundred Days. Councilor of State, he was the grand master of ceremonies at the Prussian court from 1842 to 1848.
