Ancient symbol of Kyi the Vyking (Varyah) of Kyivian Rus
Legend tells the story of young Vyking nobles called Varangians or Varyahiv who used the rivers of Eastern Europe to conduct far-reaching raids as far as Byzantium & Roman territory in Europe & East Asia. These rivers were often shaded by dark forests and their huge canopies stretched from side to side blocking out all sunlight for most of the day. Light could mean danger or a place they would need to battle or trade for right of passage with tribes of Bulgars, Rus & Pechenegs.
It is said by some that they carried a mystical glowing Trydent called a Tryzub to guide their way without the sun or the stars.
Often adorned with precious gems and secret stones which turned the Tryzub north to guide them home, the raiders were also called Northmen, or Norseman.
We don't have Vyking problems today with navigators but this glow in the dark Tryzub t-shirt will help when prawn fishing and the hat will keep you sunsmart at dawn.
(Don't forget sunblock & insect repellant! It's a long way from Covenhagn to Constantinople in a Vyking longboat and it must be your turn to man the oars.)
