Fructus Rubi is collected in early summer when it turns from green to greenish-yellow, removed from fruit stalk and leaf, treated with boiling water for a moment or steamed briefly, and dried in the sun.
In TCM, the herb is sweet and sour in flavor, and slightly warm in medicinal properties; it belongs to the category of herbs that Stabilize and Bind (Astringents).
