Jupiter-12 is a wide angle LTM lens for Contax, Kiev and other rangefinder cameras (except modern Bessa cameras).
Being a direct copy of the Contax Biogon 35mm f:2.8 lens, this can't be bad!
Russian life of Biogon lens was started in 1947 at KMZ plant at Krasnogorsk town. In 1947-1948 those lenses, known as Jipiter-12BK were made off genuine Carl Zeiss parts (include complete optical blocks), received according with reparations from Germany... it was a best part of Jupiter-12 lenses.
Since end of 1949 up to 1952 also was used Germany glass, but blocks were assembled at USSR. It were also very good lenses.
Since end of 1952 all parts of Jupiter-12 lenses issued in USSR at KMZ, Litkarino, and Arsenal (for Kiev RF cameras) plants. Even latest lenses are not so sharp and contrast like first issue, but those lenses are more young, have better condition and still provide very nice image quality with enough low prices.
In the main, most all Soviet lenses are exceptionally good and this one is no exception!
