1927

Bound Theatre Magazines

July through December

Volume 46

A beautiful collection of articles and accounts of 1927 theatre.  Quality of publications is lovely.  Many large and full page photos of the big name actors of the day

Besides all the information and happenings in theater, circa 1927, these magazines have fashion photos, advertisements -  many of (Chrysler, Packard, Lincoln and Cadillac) and cigarette ads (Camel, Pall Mall, Murad and Lucky Strikes) touting the pleasantries associated with smoking.  I loved the high fashion ads from top department stores.

Some of the faces you’ll see in this magazine:

Ann Pennington, Marguerite Churchill, Louise Groody, Martha Lorber, KMitzi, Hugh Miler, Ranon and Bosita, Dorothy Maynard, Helba Huara, Clare Windson, Maria Casajuana, Joan Bourdelle, Peg Entwistle, Julia Hoyt, Helen Howell and Burt Barger, Anna Mae Wong, Luella Gear, Walter Hampden, Rose McClendon, Elizabeth Hines, Margaret Anglin, Margola Gillmore, Natacha Rambova,  Norma Shearer, Maria Gambarelli

And Hope Hampton, Joan Maclean, Ethelind Terry, Philip Merivale, Zola Talma, Pauline Lord, Carmel Meyers, Barbara Bulgakov, Noel Francis (alias Katie Bean), Ruth Gordon, Michio Ito, Maria Corda, Dorothy Peterson and

And Phoebe Foster, Mary Astor, Phillis Haver, Madelleine Fairbanks, Haebrook Blinn, Lois Moran, Basil Rathbone, Louise Fazenda, Colleen Moore, Lon Chaney, Lucille Mendez and Ralph Waldo Ince, Anna Q. Nilsson, Emil Jannings, Greta Garbo and

Katharine Cornell, Janet Gaynor, Lillian Gish, George Bancroft, Eleanor Shalu, Billie Dove, Randolph and Joseph Schildkraut, Richard Barthelmess and daughter, Mary Hay, Elsie Ferguson and Nance O’Neill, May McAvoy, Laura La Plante, Pola Negri, Evelyn Law, Marilyn Miller, Meriam Hopkins, Milton Sells, Patsy Ruth Miller, Corinne Griffith, Rex Cherryman and Ann Harding, Marceline Day, Richard Dix, Beth Merrill, Vilma Banky, Leslie Howard and Frieda Inescort, Fay Wray, Ed Wynn, Mary Nash, Marjorie Gateson.

Pages measure about 9 ½ by 12 ½ inches.  The hard cover binding has slightly larger dimensions.  It had some bumping and fading along the spine but in general is in very good condition.  Pages are in fine condition and are intact with the spine.  I didn’t see any marks or tears on the pages.  Each of the color magazine covers has the stamp of the previous owner.

Also, listed at this same time is 1927 Volume 45 - bound Theatre Magazines for January-July.
