Up for your consideration is a set of 3 empty reproduction M1 carbine 50 round ammunition cartons with a WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS (WRA) HIGH PRESSURE TEST label..

 Development of the .30 caliber carbine round was started in late 1940 by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company under an Ordnance Department contract. By late 1941, with war on the horizon, continual refinement of the design was carried out by Frankford Arsenal. By mid-1942, quantity production contracts were given to Western Cartridge Co., Winchester Repeating Arms Co., Remington Arms Co., Kings Mills Ordnance Plant, and Lake City Ordnance Plant. Along with Ball cartridges for the new carbine, Winchester also produced the High Pressure Test or "Proof" cartridges used for the final evaluation of the carbine prior to acceptance by the Ordnance Department. A single round was used to overpressure the breech and barrel in order to verify proper functioning with service rounds, which generated a lower pressure. If it passed, the carbine got a "P" stamped on the barrel and was deemed acceptable to ship.

Each "Buy It Now" single purchase is for 3 unassembled cartons with a WINCHESTER M1 HPT label. The lot number is hand stamped on the lid prior to shipping, matching an original box, or if you prefer, I can match the lot number of a spam can or crate that you may have. The cartons will be shipped flat, with assembly instructions. I had a lot of these made, so if you want multiple sets, just change the auction quantity before you click on the "Buy It Now" button.
