(Old Magazines, Early 20th Century Magazines, Americana, Illustrated Magazines, Periodicals, Literature).

The American Magazine.
Published July 1930, Springfield, Ohio by The Crowell Publishing Company.
162 pages. Text in English. Cover art by John E. Sheridan.

Beautiful issue from the front to the rear cover. Includes fascinating early tennis pictorial lesson using an interesting dramatic lighting photographic technique.

Profusion of great illustrations and nice assortment of Deco style advertising, regularly in color. Fine vintage full page ads for all manner of consumer goods, including cars, cigarettees, gum, soup, radios, soaps, home goods, health products, books, etc.

Very nice early 20th century magazine with pleasing visual content, a rich mine of images, stories and original art work found only here within.

Binding remains sound, various mostly small signs of age, time and handling, nothing offensive or major. A nice looking example.

Small age flaws or defects include some small loss of lettering or paper along spine (still mostly present), cover w/ short closed edge split, slight dustiness or rubbing wear, random minor old creasing, edge chipping, small light old spot staining, etc. Light wear from light careful handling over the past 90 years. Scarce survival.

Overall an entirely acceptable example, actually quite clean. fresh looking cover colors. The pictures give a very good sense of how the item survives.

Virtually all loose individual periodicals of this era are somewhat scarce today as complete and well preserved issues. Like most random survivals of 20th century periodical printing, any specific example (like this one) is likely among a relative handful still extant. As each decade goes back from 1949, the rate of scarcity for any specific magazine or paper item (like comic books for example) increases noticeably.

Text block remains overall clean.

Magazine remains attractive on the shelf. It displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.

Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this antique item survives. This item is not new- it is old and has been handled by different owners in the past.

Magazine Measures c. 11 3/4" H x 8 1/2" W.
