Sir Walter Raleigh (1552 - 1618), English aristocrat, soldier, writer, politician, Courtier, spy and explorer (did I miss anything??). A celebrated explorer, a hero on land and sea. He was responsible for the first ever English colonies in the New World, and he wrote poetry that ranks with some of the finest in early modern England. Thanks for the info, Google!

That being said, who cares? The young people today couldn't care less because he didn't invent the hand held phone and they don't really care about history!! BUT, for those of you who are not brain dead, this is for you! Makes a great addition to your collection or a super gift for a friend interested in English history.

The plate measures 10.5" in diameter. The colors are super crystal clear and vibrant. On the reverse side of the plate, you'll find the series number D2787 (first introduced in 1908 and discontinued in 1928). Safe to say the plate is about 100 years old! Also, note picture #6, taken from Louise Irvine's book "Royal Doulton Series Ware"

The Tobacco Jar measures about 7" from the bottom to the top of the lid. The diameter at the bottom is 5" and around the top it's 5.5". Note that the border is the same on both pieces. SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the shape of the top of the lid, great care should be used when picking it up (difficult shape, rounded on top).

I pack professionally, with lots of bubble wrap and crumpled newspaper, and ship immediately upon receipt of payment.

Want just one?? Plate will be $75.00 and the Tobacco Jar will be $295.00. Obviously, shipping charge will vary.
