Just Good Vibes by Maya Hayuk

This is a presentation copy inscribed, dated and signed by Maya Hayuk thus: "HI FRANCESCA! RAD TO MEET YOU! CHEERS IN MULTIPLE LANGUAGES (followed by a drawing of a heart) MAYA 11-14-09 EINDHOVEN"; seemingly the 2007 1st ed published by FIFTY 24SF GALLERY/UPPER PLAYGROUND (San Francisco?) with an Introductory essay by Corrina Peipon, unpaginated (94pp.), text sound, both the front & rear end papers have "drawings" on them - the rear ones appear to have been printed, but the front ones may have been added (by the artist?) - hard to tell as we have never come across another copy before - in addition the first page also has a number of pencil lines/circles. Again, we cannot say if they were added by someone or printed that way. No dust-jacket, bumping to top right hand front corner, slight rubbing to base of spine, both boards have a number of marks & scratches with slight scuffing to the spine.

"Maya Hayuk (born 1969 in Baltimore, Maryland) is an internationally exhibited American artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. She is best known for the bold geometric patterns she employs in large-scale murals. Just Good Vibes is the long awaited debut monograph by the extremely prolific artist Maya Hakuk, a muralist, photographer, print maker, painter, illustrator, and documentarian. In a world where artists increasingly rely on the computer to create static images, Hayuk's work overflows with handmade, organic essence and soul. Part punk, part psychedelic explosion, the paintings. prints and murals collected here are simple and complicated, unbound and unpredictable. Multicolored diamonds morph into rainbows on public walls, dayglow birds and flowers sprout extra appendages appearing both beautiful and menacing, and everything eschews logic while making perfect aesthetic sense. Just Good Vibes collects Hayuk's bold images of colourful beauty that are at once visceral, ethereal, humorous and political.
