Agnes is anxious to help Dermot and Maria,who are living with her,to get their own place so she tells the insurance company Grandpa has died so they can collect the money. This means every time the bell rings an agitated Agnes has to disguise her father-in-law as a table,though ultimately a claim assessor visits,detects the scam and threatens Agnes with prison. Fortunately somebody higher up in the insurance company has a relative who is looking out for Agnes and so she will not have to kill Grandpa after all.

Agnes is not happy. The kids keep pinching her toast and Trevor is off to South Sudan at the end of the week whilst Dermot and Buster,dressed as wild animals for an ad campaign,are savaged by a randy escaped circus lion. Winnie on the other hand is delighted as her sex life has been rebooted due to the side effect of Jacko's new medication and,indeed,she seems to have better sex throughout than Agnes.Cathy rounds the family up for a group counselling session for her college project but it descends into chaos until her boyfriend Mick arrives and the family close ranks ...

A pregnant Maria brings home from her ante-natal class a robot baby lent to her on which to practise her mothering skills. Unfortunately,whilst Agnes is minding it Grandad sits on and breaks it and Agnes's efforts to mend it only make things worse. This is not the best moment for Cathy to introduce Agnes to her professor - and new boyfriend - who wants to interview her on motherhood. Fortunately Maria is forgiving,her attitude much helped by the fact that she has been told to expect twins.

Fortunately Professor Clowne,Cathy's boyfriend,finds Agnes's bizarre behaviour fascinating and is more determined than ever to interview her for his book.

Spartacus,the family dog,is fifteen years old and sick and the family discuss putting her in a home 'with other old bitches' but Agnes overhears and thinks they are referring to her. The need to find the right moment to tell Agnes coincides with a surprise birthday party the children are throwing for their Mammy and their secretive nature is driving her to distraction. Ultimately the truth is revealed and the family repair to the pub for Agnes's celebration but unfortunately Spartacus has worsened and has had to be put to sleep.

After Rory and his boyfriend argue but make up Cathy feels that Agnes should make more effort to get on with Hillary so Agnes asks her out to the pub. Initially Hillary is unimpressed but after a couple of ciders is ready to arm wrestle anybody. The new found friendship is,however,overshadowed when Maria is rushed to hospital and gives birth to triplets. After Mark has shown Betty his romantic side there is only one way to end the series - a song performed by the entire cast.
