This DVD (and any other DVD released anywhere in the world) will play just fine on any multi-region DVD player, bought in USA or elsewhere. It will also play on most computers' DVD drives. Some consumers actually own a multi-region DVD player, without knowing it. All you need to do if you own such Philips, Akai, CyberHome or other DVD player is to use your remote control to switch it to multi-region mode. As such features are almost always not documented by the DVD player's manufacturer, we'd recommend you check your DVD player's capabilities by searching the web for the words 'videohelp DVD Player and Blu-ray Player region codes' and choosing the very first link found.
For our USA customers, if you need an advise for a inexpensive ($30-$40) US DVD player, please feel free to contact us or to read our recommenations here: Our DVD player recommendations. Please keep in mind that we do not sell DVD players.

This DVD does not contain pornographic material and may be lawfully sold to and viewed by minors.

Unfortunately, we don't have the capacity to inspect every DVD title to determine whether subtitles can be removed or not. Therefore, when purchasing the DVD, which contains subtitles, the assumption should be that subtitles are not removable. However, you can try DVD's menu to turn off subtitles or try 'Subtitles' button on your DVD player's remote control to turn off the subtitles track. If these steps don't work, then unfortunately subtitles are not optional.

Synopsis:
Priscilla White is a typist from a working class area of Liverpool who dreams of stardom; Bobby Willis is the chancer who ignores the city's Protestant-Catholic divide to pursue her; Brian Epstein is the young genius who will later guide The Beatles to superstardom. Starring Sheridan Smith Cilla tells the true story of how the lives of these three intertwine to propel Cilla to the top of the charts and beyond... but at a cost. Cilla Black, as young Priscilla becomes, displays a ruthless streak that won't allow anything or anyone - including Bobby - to stand in her way. Epstein is tortured by his success and his sexuality--forced to keep his homosexuality hidden in an era when to be caught with another man could mean prison. Set to an explosion of 60s music as the 'Merseybeat' sounds grips the country, Cilla explores the humble beginnings and little-known early years of a woman who went on to become an iconic TV star and household name.

Season 1

In Liverpool in 1960 17-year old typist Cilla White frequents the Cavern club, where she occasionally sings. Her friend Ringo Starr, drummer with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes suggests she accompany the band to Hamburg for concerts but her parents forbid it, By chance she meets Bobby Willis, who claims to be in the music industry but actually works in a bakery. Cilla is not impressed when she learns the truth about him but allows him to be her manager. At their first gig she is erroneously billed as Cilla Black but likes the name. Ringo is now playing with the Beatles...
Episode #1.2 S1, Ep2 22 Sep. 2014
Cilla is despondent after failing her audition for Brian Epstein but the loyal Bobby persuades her to keep singing, driving her from club to club. At the Iron Door club she impresses Brian Epstein who is now keen to manage her and take her to London to make a record. Bobby feels betrayed but Cilla insists he accompany her as her roadie. They stay in a hotel whilst Brian goes to an underground gay club and picks up a bit of rough who beats him up though he lies to Cilla about his bruises. George Martin records her debut disc 'Love of the Loved', with a song by Bobby as...
Episode #1.3 S1, Ep3 29 Sep. 2014
In 1964 Cilla has her second number one hit and gets to perform at the London Palladium. Feeling self-important she refuses to let Brian sign Bobby as a singer in his own right, claiming that she needs him to look after her. Cilla records the film theme 'Alfie', though she is derogatory about the title, as a means to break in to the American market but a trip to New York to appear on Ed Sullivan's TV show with Brian - who still seeks young men to rough him up - and Bobby does not yield immediate success and an impatient Cilla demands that they return home.

The life and career of British singer and entertainer Cilla Black.
