THOMAS CHARLIE PEDERSEN Daylight Saving Hours   (CD 2020)   NEW AND SEALED

NEW & SEALED CD

Thomas Charlie Pedersen is a musician from Copenhagen, Denmark. He is the lead singer and guitarist of the Danish alternative rock band Vinyl Floor but also releases solo material. His latest is called
Daylight Saving Hours which is his sophomore album.

Pederson said, “Unlike the first album - which was quite introvert and personal - the new album sees me writing mostly about other people with a strong emphasis on the lyrics and melody and a few lyrical wordplays thrown in for good measure.”

This album I would say fits into the singer/songwriter genre that focused on folk. For the most part the guitar and vocals are at the centre of the song. That being said there is some other accompaniment which I thought sounded very nice.

There are fourteen songs on this album but it's not that long all things considered and more importantly doesn't’ feel long. The songs ranges from about a-minute-and-a-half to three-and-a half minutes. It’s an album that works very well listening to it from beginning to end.

There are some highlights to my ears. I really liked the opening song “To A First Love” which features some of his best vocal work and what sounds like a flute at certain points. The light guitar picking on “The World Is Not Your Oyster” is quite beautiful as it reminded me of one of my favourite folk artists - Donovan. There are also some nice piano ballads such as “At The End Of The Day.” Pedersen doesn't strum his guitar too often but when he does it sounds great. You can hear this on “The Freewheeler.”

The tone of this album at least in mood is reflective and often melancholy. I thought it was obvious that Pedersen was giving heartfelt performances with these songs which are often moving. This was a very pleasurable listen that I think plenty of people will appreciate. Take a listen. (Divide & Conquer)
