Alcotec 48 turbo yeast (TY)

Double recipes for making alcohol (moonshine) With the use of Alcotec 48 turbo yeast (TY) you can decide when you start fermentation whether you want to make moderate amount of alcohol and fast (14% in 2 days), or high levels of alcohol over a little longer period (20% in 5 days). 

It simply depends on the amount of white sugar (sucrose) you add - 240kgs per m3 for the fast, lower alcohol version and 320 kgs per m3 for the high alcohol version in 5-6 days. For the consumer product, it is either 6kgs per 25L or 8kgs per 25L. Alcotec 48 contains the highly active Alcotec Ethanol TT yeast mixed with the Alcotec Nutrient for high alcohol fermenations. 

Turbo yeast is commonly abbreviated to TY. 48hr turbo yeast is the most commonly used type. Alcotec 48 (TY) dose Normally 5.4kgs per m3 for high alcohol fermentation of a sucrose wash. If there is anything nutritious present - fruit, molasses, grains, it is possible to reduce a little but this needs tweaking or each case and we can not give any general recommendation here. What sugar to use Either plain white sugar (at the amounts stated in the normal recipe), or for better solubility, use brewing sugar (Dextrose Monohydrate) but remember to dose another 10% to compensate for the water molecule.


High alcohol fermentation with activated carbon

Alcotec 48 Carbon Turbo Yeast is an especially developed extra pure variant of Alcotec 48 - the worlds best selling turbo yeast.

As with Alcotec 48 itself, it is based around a "pure" yeast strain which is a temperature tolerant, high alcohol distillers strain and a very precisely composed nutrient. But we didn't stop there, we have here also added a mixture of high specification activated carbons to push the limits of purity and odour-less fermentation. The precisely composed nutrition, containing its own nitrogen source, a pH regulator, trace minerals, vitamins and an antifoaming agent, it is the perfect yeast compound for creating a high alcohol wash up to 20% but it can also be used for extra fast fermentations to 14% alcohol. Comes in 175g sachets (283g for Australia/NZ).


Distilling fruit liqueurs

Alcotec Fruit Turbo Yeast  with enzyme contains a pure fermenting distillers strain of yeast which was chosen for its ability to retain many of the important fruit qualities. It also contains an enzyme for breaking down pectins in the fruit which could create a haze problem later. Fast fermenting, perfect for creating home distilled fruit liqueurs. Available in 60g sachets for consumer use, or in 25kg sacks for the alcohol industry. This product is currently not available for the Australian and NZ markets but we are working on it.


Alcotec Whisky Turbo Yeast

Alcotec Whisky Turbo GA contains a highly complex, chemically defined macro and micro nutrition which together with the specially developed Alcotec TT Yeast strain is the only complete fermentation system capable of delivering 15% alcohol from a base  containing dextrins. Glucoamylase enzyme (GA) is added for converting dextrins into fermentable sugars. This product is typically used with recipes based on molasses, grains, potatoes etc. Note that starch conversion must have taken place before using the  Whisky Turbo (use Alcotec Alpha Amylase enzyme for this). Note that this product is identical to the Alcotec Vodka Turbo Yeast.

Alcotec Vodka Turbo GA contains a highly complex, chemically defined macro and micro nutrition which together with the specially developed Alcotec TT Yeast strain is the only complete fermentation system capable of delivering 15% alcohol from a base  containing dextrins. Glucoamylase enzyme (GA) is added for converting dextrins into fermentable sugars. This product is typically used with recipes based on molasses, grains, potatoes etc. Note that starch conversion must have taken place before using the  Vodka Turbo (use Alcotec Alpha Amylase enzyme for this). Note that this product is identical to the Alcotec Whisky Turbo Yeast.
