Antique Eastlake Shadowbox Picture Frame

American, Victorian era, circa 1880.
Complex, three-part frame.
Carved walnut wood, with old, original nails hold the three parts together.
19th century square-cut nails.
Multi-level concave surfaces.
Eastlake decoration.
Gilt composition inner border.

This frame was made for an 8" x 10" photograph or picture.

Frame outer dimensions: 13 1/2" x 15 1/2"

Rabbet : 8 3/16" x 10 3/16"
( 8" x 10" ; this is the outer dimensions of the picture which will fit )

Sight : 7 1/2" x 9 1/2"

( this is the viewing area, as seen from the front of the frame )

Approximately 3" deep.

Mitered corners.
No glass.
Includes the old, original mat with oval cut-out.
Includes the original wooden backing.
A former owner framed a vintage print in this frame, though the frame itself is much older.
This frame is around 140+ years old.
The vintage print shows an American Indian holding a rifle , outdoors on horseback, standing in a river.

Condition
The frame is clearly old ( approximately 140 years old ), with signs of age.
There is some loss of composition surface in the gray & black areas around the upper & lower Eastlake decoration.
( could be touched-up by someone handy with a small paintbrush )
The original mat with oval cut-out is stained and has some scratches / dings.
All in all, good antique condition.
