This is “The Super Bowl Shuffle,” by THE CHICAGO BEARS SHUFFLIN’ CREW, a brand-new, shrink-wrapped (gift-quality) audio-cassette tape in a plastic case with liner notes. It was issued by Red Label Records in 1985. “The Super Bowl Shuffle” is a rap song performed by players of the Chicago Bears football team during 1985, slightly prior to their performance in Super Bowl XX. Created by Richard “Dick” Meyer, it instantly became a mainstream phenomenon. The song raised the media profile of the Bears as they completed their one-loss regular season. Likewise, the team backed up their tune, defeating the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, 46-10. The artists were officially known as the Chicago Bears Shufflin' Crew, and included "Sweetness" Walter Payton, "Punky QB" Jim McMahon, and "Samurai" Mike Singletary. The music was composed by Bobby Daniels and Lloyd Barry, and the lyrics were written by Richard E. Meyer and Melvin Owens. Other participants included Willie Gault, Steve Fuller, Mike Richardson, Richard Dent, Gary Fencik, Otis Wilson and William "Refrigerator" Perry.
