ISRAEL PALESTINE PC PHOTO YEMENITE Aliyah ALBUM British Mandate Jerusalem Acco

Here's a collection of 71 Photo's of the newly established State of Israel as it looked in 1950. In this album, a German-Jewish immigrant took pictures of the new Yemenite immigrants, fresh off the magic carpet and desert where they came from, persevering heat, sun and robbers along the way who robbed them of their possessions. Nevertheless, these brave Jews came to their ancestral home to build a country. The Yemenites are seen smiling (at least the men) and their wives look more serious and are still dressed in their traditional garb.

Some other places that were photographed in this album include Jerusalem (fresh after the 1948 War of Independence) where there are photo's of bombed out buildings which were not rebuilt yet! Also are photos of  Kibbutz Kiryat Anavim (outside of Jerusalem), Safad, Moshav Beit Yitzchak in Netanya, Kibbutz Sdot yam, Acco, Haifa, Nazareth and Kfar Saba.

These photographs mostly measure 5 x 3 or 4 x 3 inches. There are dates on the back of the photo's that were written with most if not all being date in late 1950 (I have NOT seen all the back of all of the photo's).

This is a great time capsule of some of the most intersting places in Israel after the State was established.
