Listed for your consideration is a vintage engraving by Jeanne Down titled "Comfort." It depicts a child seeking comfort in the arms of a woman -- most likely its' mother or caretaker. Signed, numbered 88/100 limited edition etching, nicely matted, wood frame, behind glass.

Finished size measures 17" high x 18-1/2" wide. Image size 8-3/4" high x 9-3/4" wide". Earth-tone colors. Frame is golden oak wood. Ready for hanging.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Jeanne Down had the advantage of being raised in an artistic environment, as the granddaughter of E. E. Wilt, a well-known Pennsylvania artist, from whom she received her early, artistic training. Down is known for the subtle, expressive attitudes of "her" children. She creates wonder, excitement and love, as seen through the eyes of the young. This theme runs throughout her work, whether it's in her highly sought after watercolors, oils or etchings. Once, in an interview, Down stated that she created and printed all of her etchings by hand. Jeanne Down has gained a devoted and ever increasing following. CONDITION: Very good. Minor wear to the wood finish of the frame. Etching is in excellent condition, behind glass, nicely matted and framed. Vintage item. As a result, there is some soil and dust to the glass from the inside -- to clean this, the print would need to be removed from the frame, the glass washed, and the picture re-assembled. No odors. Non-smoking environment.
